About Abby
Abby Buchanan has served her community for 20+ years as a healer, educator, designer, empath, artist, and mother. She began her career in 1999 as a massage therapist and has provided professional bodywork, sound therapy, energy work and intuitive guidance to thousands of clients.
She has a deep passion for the arts and child development. She is trained in Early Childhood Waldorf Education and supporting neurodiversity in families. She is also the co-founder of Resound NW: A Place To Sing.
At 5 years old she was filling her kiddie pool with sticks and rocks and flower petals to make “healing soaks.” At 7 she was frustrated that the personality test she took was too reductive. (“There’s no way anyone could be one of 4 colors…it has to be a spectrum!”) At 25, very anxious and very earnest, she had her full-blown quarter-life crisis and dug deep into her own transformation, deconditioning process, and healing. Abby has always wanted to understand herself and the humans around her while helping everyone be the best version of themselves.
Becoming a Human Design practitioner has been like coming home for Abby, the multiple streams of her past work as healer and guide merging into one.
Education + certifications
Abby was featured in Portland Monthly Magazine's Top Doctors issue as a Top Natural Practitioner (2014).
She completed Jenna Zoe’s Human Design Practitioner Training (2019).
Abby studied Sound Therapy with Singing Bowl Master Shree Krishna Shahi in Nepal at the Kathmandu Center of Healing (2013). She also facilitated Desire Map workshops in Portland, OR (2016-2018) and has received Reiki attunements from Krishna Avalon, L.Ac.
Abby worked for 20 years as a licensed massage therapist specializing in Prenatal massage. She’s a proud member the Association for Size Diversity and Health, and advocate for the Health At Every Size approach to care. Abby has received bodywork training from Midland College, Coleman College of Health Sciences, East West College of the Healing Arts, and numerous workshops and seminars (1999-present).
She studied Early Childhood development at Sunbridge Institute (2006-2007). Abby also holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Oral Roberts University (2005) and is an accomplished guitarist and pianist.
